SHOW AND TELL GUIDELINES (Preschool)
Show & Tell is everyone’s favourite time.
The teachers take turns to lead ‘Show and Tell’. The children bring anything from home (a toy, a cloth, a book, etc) and one by one to stand in front of the whole school and talk to the children about what they have brought. Children ask questions such as; what is it? What colours does it have? How do you play with it? Etc…
After Show and Tell, the children have lunch and then enjoy an age-appropriate movie as they wait for their parents.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION GUIDELINES
On P.E. and Football Club days, children are expected to come in their full sports kits. The teachers lead the children in various physical activities in line with either their themes or Sports Day Preparations.
SWIMMING GUIDELINES
In-school Swimming (Nursery Class)
Children leave their classes to an already prepared area near the paddling pool. They are then helped by the teachers and caretakers to change into their swimming costumes. They are carried into the paddling pool one by one after each of them washes their feet. This is so that they do not put dirty feet into the clean pool water.
In the pool, children are encouraged to splash, sit, stand and jump in the water. The water level must not exceed their thighs.
Out of School Swimming
The Kindergarten, Reception and Primary classes go outside the school for swimming. The teachers get the children changed into their swim suits while still at school.
The children jump into the pool and are helped by the teachers and swimming instructors. After swimming, the children are helped to get dressed. They eat their snacks while waiting to go back to school.
BOARD GAMES/ LEGO CLUB GUIDELINES (Preschool)
Nursery and Lower Kindergarten classes use the bigger pieces of Lego under the guidance of a teacher(s).
Kindergarten, Reception and Pre-primary classes engage in a more complex Lego game using a manual with guidelines and procedures under supervision and guidance of a teacher(s). Legos help a child to acquire logical and reasoning skills, boost critical thinking and concentration.
CHESS CLUB GUIDELINES
The children who sign up for Chess Classes are trained by professional Chess Coaches at the school, by Brand Chess Life Academy. We believe that with Chess classes, we are nurturing chess talent among children and the youth. The Chess Life Academy has been in the industry for the last 9 years and now enjoys the biggest slots on the National Team of Uganda.
Our aim at the school is to be able to prepare our children for National and International Chess Competitions.
TAEKWONDO CLUB GUIDELINES
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art and the National Sport of South Korea. It is the World’s most popular martial arts in terms of number of practitioners. It is popular because it combines combat techniques, self-defence, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy.
It is compulsory for children to have uniforms when they join the club.
The children also need to be encouraged to follow all the Rules of Taekwondo at school and at home, or any other place outside the dojang.
The Master teaching the class and the students should always be respected at all times by both the children and the parents.
FRENCH CLUB GUIDELINES
The French Club exists to promote the study of the French Language and Culture. It is a space we have created in the school for friendship and conversation building with Francophones.
Although it is taught to all in Primary Classes, the Club’s aim is to take learning of French a notch higher by engaging in activities such as composition writing, poetry, art and drama on both the national and international platforms.
BALLET CLUB GUIDELINES
Dancers must arrive to class on time prepared and ready to dance.
There is absolutely NO talking during class, unless it is a question or comment to the instructor. Disruptive students may be asked to sit out of class, or sent home.
The School of Ballet dress-code is based on classical standards for dance training. This dress code helps students focus on their work in class, and prepares them for performances. Students feel pride in themselves when they are dressed properly and ready for class.
Students and their parents are responsible for understanding the dress code.
Students in violation of dress code will be asked to correct the problem prior to class. If there are ongoing problems, the student will be asked to sit out of class when he/she is not prepared for class.
